A diverse collection of clinical material pertaining to common surgical conditions is not really available at any one time - we have collected such material and use it to illustrate the diagnostic process and subsequent management. The program attempts to encourage the student to explore the whole body using subtle software techniques, (limited by the essential component), in regard to surgery - hence the name Exploring Essential Surgery (‘EES’).
This is an interactive program using text, graphics, images and drawings to assist medical students, hospital doctors, surgeons in training, general practitioners and allied health professionals in their understanding of common and important surgical conditions. Patients and interested lay people would also benefit from this program.
Dr. Gerard Ahern is a clinical anatomist, general practitioner and final year medical school coordinator.
Mr. Maurice Brygel is a general surgeon specialising in hernia , haemorrhoid and perianal surgery.
Numerous expert anatomists and surgeons contributed to the program.
‘EES’ is also available as a full Mac or Windows software program plus as 12 ebooks on the iBookstore. They contain additional material including over 100 videos of experts commenting on surgical conditions.
We are always keen to hear from users if there any common conditions they would like added or changes that need to be made to the text.
